BEATRICE — Beatrice police arrested a motorist Wednesday night for driving with suspension and drug-related offenses.
An officer spotted a silver van heading south near the 6e and Tonka Lane around 9 p.m. without a front license plate, but with a rear plate. After the vehicle pulled into a restaurant parking lot, a man entered the restaurant to place an order.
The officer directed the man outside and he was unable to produce identification, telling the officer he believed his license was valid.
A check of records showed that the man’s driver’s license was expired and suspended… and that there were eleven previous convictions for driving under suspension between 2010 and 2019. The man’s license was suspended in March 2021 , with no reinstatement date.
A search of the vehicle revealed a glass pipe with residue and a small zippered bag of a field-tested positive substance, such as methamphetamine…both within reach of the driver’s seat.
Nickolas Weidner, 32, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia…and driving under suspension.
